Applying For Federal Pell Grant
55Have you been recently laid off from your job and have a tough time getting a new job? This could be because your skill is becoming obsolete. Instead of fretting about finding a new job in a dwindling field, why not go back to school and get a degree in something that pays? You may be thinking that going back to school will cost a lot of money. It is true that it will cost a lot of money but you can lessen your cost burdens by applying for Federal Pell Grants.
A Federal Pell Grant is money given by the Federal Government for people that do not have the financial means to pay for higher education. Federal Pell Grants can be given to anyone as long as they are going to school, so anyone can apply. People that will likely get the grant include students, single parents, unemployed people, etc. Not everyone will get a Federal Pell Grant though. To get some of that government money you will need to apply through FAFSA. The FAFSA is a Free Application for Student Aid. Each year that you plan on applying for student aid you must fill out this application. You can request a physical application or you can do it online. Doing it online is easier though.
The FAFSA will ask for your income or your family contribution. If you or your family’s income is too high, then you will not get any aid. Your family’s contribution will only count if you are still their dependent. The government uses your income to calculate how much grant money you will receive. Usually the more you make the less you will receive. After you have submitted your application you should receive a notice later on detailing how much money you will get. You can then use this money to pay for tuition or other necessary school supplies.
The best part about the Federal Pell Grant is that you do not have to pay it back. The money is yours to use as you wish with no strings attached.
